Reprogrammed due to success: KIDZZPLEIN
Last year’s Kidzzplein – despite the occasional pouring rain – was a great success. That’s why it’s part of Jazz in Duketown again this year. On Saturday afternoon, between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m., a varied program is waiting on the stage in Church Street, for and by children.
Lotte Bosma, one of the organizers, explains enthusiastically:
“At the Kidzzplein, all kinds of things are happening! There are performances by young soloists, bands and Bossche elementary schools. In addition, children themselves can actively sing or drum along with Fabienne and Marcel. Extra special is the arrival of Edwin Rutten, who will close the afternoon with a real talent show. Children may bring their own instrument for this.”
The afternoon will be opened at 1:30 p.m. by the two brothers “Jazz and Duke. This was followed by several performances, including by Rose (12) on violin and Ize (9) on guitar. Singer Fabiënne Schadee performs several songs with children from South Star Elementary School. Children can also expend their energy by drumming along with the songs of percussionist Marcel van Vught.
Starting at 3:15 p.m., the afternoon will conclude with a performance by jazz singer and drummer Edwin Rutten, also known as the legendary Ome Willem. Together with his pianist, he takes the audience on a dazzling talent show for young and old. Djaylen Holzken, children’s city poet of Den Bosch, will also provide a nice review of the afternoon as part of this.
“It’s a wonderful program,” Lotte said, “but there’s more. Kids can color in the crea tent, get face painting or get a nice glitter tattoo.”
And the parents? Lotte laughs:
“Those can enjoy a nice drink at the bar in the meantime.”
The Kidzzplein is made possible in part by the Opus Leo Foundation
